The Power of Declarative Language
This workshop was created to nurture parents, caregivers, and therapists by offering tools that shift how we guide children toward connection, independence, and regulation. Declarative language invites rather than instructs, creating space for children to process, problem-solve, and engage more meaningfully. Led by our incredible BCBA Miss Ashley from Mindful Behavior Connections you will be guided intuitively in a way that makes you feel seen, heard and accepted.
In this interactive workshop, participants will:
• Explore how declarative language can strengthen trust, connection, and collaboration with children.
• Learn to reframe directives into invitations that foster independence, problem-solving, and flexible thinking.
• Practice simple, everyday strategies that reduce power struggles while building confidence and communication.
• Connect with other caregivers and professionals, sharing experiences and insights in a supportive space.
You’ll leave with practical tools and a deeper understanding of how shifting from directives to declaratives can open the door for growth, self-advocacy, and meaningful social interaction.
This workshop is being offered as part of our October caregiver, parent, and therapist education series. Space is limited to honor the intimacy of the experience.
The heart of this workshop is simple: to shine light on the way we speak, and to remind us that language is not just about words—it is about how we invite connection, foster trust, and empower growth.
